The programs offered by and through the IUE have one thing in common - they focus on the needs of the learner. With the homogenization of higher learning in general, the IUE, from the outset, chose to differentiate itself from all of the other institutions of higher learning by clearly stating the focus of all degree and certification programs offered by and through the university. The distinction is, the IUE only offers programs and courses with a clear focus on entrepreneurship and entreprenology. Entrepreneurship is the base upon which the discipline of the employer is built. Entreprenology - the concept originated and developed by Dr. James R. Omps, his associates and his colleagues - expands on that base, taking it to the next level. The end result - these are the only programs targeting and effectively providing the education and training needs of employers. If the goal of the learner is to prepare him or herself to become an employer or if it is simply to learn how to think and/or act as an employer, then the programs and courses in this dynamic discipline is where he or she needs to start.
For nearly half a century, the IUE has focused on the development of programs for the creative and innovative people of the world. While virtually every other school in the world today is employee focused - preparing men and women for enter the workforce or to get a better job - the IUE is employer focused - providing for the education and training needs of the men and women who create a need for the employees that other schools produce.Beyond that, we have recognized that the entrepreneur and the entreprenologist is not found exclusive in what would be considered a standard business environment. On the contrary, the entrepreneur and entreprenologogist is, and has always been, in every career field you can think of.
A number of programs offer some business oriented topics simply because every career field touches business in some way.It is, therefore, good to have a basic understanding of what we call the Language of Business. As with any foreign language, the only way to understand what you are seeing or hearing is to have a basic understanding of the language.
All programs are continuously being updated and new courses added on a regular basis. The only way to deal effectively with change (changing needs, changing issues, changing requirements, etc.) is to embrace it by adding information and courses that will appropriately address the needs of the career entrepreneur, intrapreneur, and entreprenologist today, tomorrow and on into the future.
Excellence in education is critically dependent on the interaction of faculty members and program participants. The values that characterize these interactions include dedication to excellence, mutual respect, honesty, and integrity.
The IUE offers a range of undergraduate programs that will both challenge and reward the student:
The Higher Diploma in Business Administration (AA) was designed for the full-time student able to devote at least one year to this program. The student is introduced to the fundamentals of business and commerce.
The Advanced Diploma in Business Administration (BBA) is an 18 month full-time course that explores, to greater depth, subjects known to be critical to successful business operations.
Both programs have the same goals: providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become more effective at their jobs. A functional understanding of business fundamentals such as accounting, finance, marketing and operations is developed. They also introduce student to basic skills, such as use of information systems.
IUE believes that modern managers need Experience- Network- Expertise in order to succeed in the new millennium. Experience is always a key factor in the ability of managers to be effective. With this experience comes the building of a network of other high caliber managers to facilitate doing business. Effectiveness also requires expertise, a skill base managers draw on to carry out specific functions and responsibilities. Our Higher Diploma Course is designed to bring the essence of these three elements together to provide managers from around the region with strategic executive education. The course offers an alternative pathway to Adv. Dip. B. Admin. for people without High School or professional studies qualification The Course fosters critical thinking, decision making and complex risk analysis.
This 18 month full-time course requires the completion of 12 subjects and a project. Credit Transfer is equivalent to a BBA program. The Course fosters critical thinking, decision making and complex risk analysis. A significant component enhancing the concept and practice of entrepreneurship development and small and medium sized enterprise (SMEs) operation has also been incorporated.
Virtually every sector of the every economy has been shaken by revolutionary changes in the ways firms are doing business today. The need for effective management has moved from that would be nice to have to we must have it. Effectively managing operations enables firms to gain a competitive advantage by driving leadership, quality, flexible response to customer needs, and getting products and services to market quickly.
Our mission, then, as a teaching/learning institution, is to equip 21st century managers with the ability and analytical skills to lead and manage complex and dynamic organizations. We must be able to create managers with a functional understanding of a number of operational areas such as mass customization, business process design, service operations, environmental management, quality, distribution channel management, risk analysis, manufacturing system design, and global operations strategy.
IUE emphasizes learning through experiential exercises, real-world approaches to problem resolution, experienced faculty and industry guest speakers, field visits, and hands-on field projects. Our participants work in finance, accounting, marketing, information systems, product designs, or human resources. All of these areas are closely involved with the production and distribution of goods and services, and the more managers know about the system that produces the firm's product, the better they are able to design, market, finance, or manage the activities of the organization.
Working knowledge of today's key operations issues provides the ability and skills to build successful careers and contribute in many fields. As firms restructure in response to global challenges, ample opportunities exist for managers in every field to excel by analyzing and improving business operations. For example, an operations consultant or manager would acquire the skills necessary to undertake business process improvements, total quality management initiatives, and customer service improvements where a financial analyst or management consultant would be in a better position to evaluate a firm's strengths, weaknesses, and valuation by understanding how operations affect the firm's competitive position and long-term cash flow.
How do we make these things happen? Excellence in graduate and professional education is critically dependent on the interaction of faculty members and program participants. The values that characterize these interactions include dedication to excellence, mutual respect, honesty, and integrity.
